Popular styles for engagement rings

Engagement Rings Sydney
Popular styles follow popular people — the traditional classic is the solitaire, a round, brilliant-cut diamond in a six-claw setting, made famous by Cartier and Tiffany. Michelle Obama wears one. Rupert Murdoch gave Jerry Hall a huge marquise-cut solitaire diamond. Jay-Z gave Beyoncé a large emerald-cut diamond with tiny diamonds on either side and down the band.
Baguettes on the side?
Harry Winston’s classic is a round brilliant-cut diamond with tapered baguette side stones. Amal Clooney has an emerald-cut diamond with tapered baguette side stones — and so does Melania Trump — that style works for every size and shape of centre stone.
The Royal weddings
At the moment Meghan Markle seems to be the most admired and publicized bride in the world. Her ring was designed by Prince Harry and it is a cushion-cut diamond with a round diamond on either side.
Princess Diana’s sapphire engagement ring, which her daughter-in-law Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, now wears proudly, was a centre stone surrounded by a row of small diamonds. Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, has an Art Deco-inspired square diamond ring.
1920s and ‘30s
Scarlett Johansson has a rectangular Art Deco ring. Antique and vintage rings are always popular, but they are more delicate and you have to be careful with them. No gardening or riding or swimming with them on.
